- Scan of ID (passport or C/B permit)
- Send via post, the weapon acquisition permit or an extract of less than 3 months from a clean criminal record (depending on the type of weapon, see below)

In order to acquire a firearm or an essential part of a firearm, the purchaser must obtain a PAA (Permis d'Acquisition d'Arme) from the police. For this purpose an extract from the criminal record of less than 3 months must be provided. A firearm purchase permit costs CHF 50 and is valid for the simultaneous purchase of one to three weapons from the same gun dealer on the same day.
The following weapons and their essential parts may be purchased without a firearms acquisition permit but must be documented in a written contract with the gunsmith
- single-shot and multi-barrelled hunting weapons and copies of single-shot muzzle-loading weapons;
- hand-held repeating rifles designated by the Federal Council, usually used for off-duty shooting and sport shooting organised by recognised shooting societies within the meaning of the law of 3 February 1995 on the army, as well as for hunting within the country;
- single-shot rabbit guns;
- compressed air or CO2 weapons which have a muzzle energy of at least 7.5 joules or can be mistaken for real firearms because of their appearance; e. dummy weapons, alarm weapons, paintball weapons and soft air weapons if they can be mistaken for real firearms because of their appearance;
- hand-repeating rifles (e.g. Carabiner 11, Carabiner 31, Infantry Rifle 11).

Please note that certain weapons (B&T APC9/45, CZ SCORPION EVO3, H&K MP5... ) require other types of acquisition permits such as AET (Autorisation d'Acquisition Exceptionnelle pour le "Tir Sportif") or AEC (Autorisation d'Acquisition Exceptionnelle pour "Collectionneur").
